As a result of past trauma, many foster children need mental health services such as individual, group and family counseling, skill building activities, and psychiatric services to heal. In 2002, Walden launched the Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) mental health program in San Diego to ensure our children had the highest quality of services available to assist them in developing into healthy adults. Services include individual and family therapy, skills training, parent coaching and psychiatric services administered by Walden’s on-site psychiatrist, licensed therapists and skills trainers.
