Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning [LGBTQ] Foster Care Network

This network is designed to meet the special needs of LGBTQ foster youth. The focus of this network is education and advocacy services for LGBTQ foster youth and training and support for child welfare providers, professional foster parents, and birth families.

LGBTQ foster youth historically have a far more difficult experience in the foster care system than other youth. To address this issue, Walden developed the LGBTQ foster care network to provide education and advocacy services for these foster youth, and to provided specialized training to child welfare providers, foster parents, and birth families. Through culturally-competent, diversity training to foster parents and the entire treatment team, LGBTQ foster youth have a far greater opportunity of having a positive foster care placement.
