Walden Board Member Honored for Commitment to Diversity

On October 27, 2011 Walden board member Lee Wills-Irvine was honored with a Special Recognition Diversity Award by the Urban League of San Diego County. This award is given to a person that has made a significant contribution to the community -- through extraordinary personal commitment and effort -- to impact individuals from all walks of life.

Lee Wills-Irvine, who serves on Walden's Governance Board, is Senior Manager of Human Resources at Qualcomm. At Qualcomm Lee leads Global Diversity and Inclusion. Her mission is to levereage talents and capabilities for innovation and productivity in a manner that supports organizational values. Additionally, she is responsible for diversity-related external communication and outreach. 

Lee helped design and manage Qualcomm's Women's Mentoring Program and was instrumental in the development of the Athena San Diego Mentoring Program. She spearheaded a program funded by Qualcomm that created a $1 million endowment for local students to pursue degrees in math, science and engineering.
