Walden Family Services was awarded $2,500 from The Community Foundation of Riverside and San Bernadino Counties. The funding will help support Walden's Independent Futures program.
The Independent Futures program assists adolescents and young adults in making the necessary and critical transition from foster care to independent living. Young adults leaving the foster care system have experienced placement changes, school interruptions, and in many instances limited social connections with caring and nurturing adults. Independent Futures is a constant in our foster youths’ lives that is necessary to address these experiences so that youth are able to build the necessary skills and relationships to transition to independent living successfully.
Accepting the check for Walden was Maggie Milano, Teen Services Coordinator, and Candice Knowles, an IF client who is now in college.
